Mum's Apple Pie Recipe

This weekend we're road tripping to Pennsylvania to visit my sister and her fiance, yaye!! I can't wait to see her and hang out!!!! As a little thank you for having us, I made an apple pie to bring with us, but not just any apple pie, my Mum's Apple Pie! My great grandmom came over on the boat from England and she had an English accent. My mom likes to use it when we talk sometimes, I'm sure makes her feel closer to her grandmom, and so she'll call me things like "my beautiful daughter" but instead it kinda sounds like my beauttttiful dawter). She is so sweet, I love her and her crazy English accent:) Hence why I usually call my mom my "mum", and so it is my Mum's Apple Pie. Without further ado, here is the recipe with pics:

Mum's Apple Pie

You will need:

5 apples,

traditional pie crust (you can make this yourself or buy one at the store, I made one from this recipe Traditional Pie Crust),

pinch of salt,

1/4 cup of lemon juice,

1/2 cup of cinnamon,

1/2 cup of equal parts all purpose flour & brown sugar

1/2 stick butter

pinch of sugar (any sugar you like)

1- If you have made your Traditional Pie Crust, set aside in bowl in fridge for 30 minutes. If you've bought it, set aside pie crust.

2- Peel off apple skin from apples. Cut apples into pieces. Place apples in large bowl.

3- Pour cinnamon, pinch of salt and lemon juice in with apples (who would've thought lemon juice was good in apple pie but it soooo is!) Mix together.

4- Take pie crust out of fridge. Take half of it, roll flat, place in pie plate, remembering to stretch it out so its not too thick to the ends. If you have bought pie crust, just take pie crust out of package now.

5- Scoop apple mixture out and place in pie crust in pie plate.

6- Take mixture of 1/2 cup equal parts flour and brown sugar and sprinkle over top of apple mixture.

7- Take half stick of butter and cut into pieces. Place on top of apple mixture.

8- Take rest of pie crust and roll flat. Place on top of pie plate. If you bought a pie crust, you don't need a top to this so you can just leave it open.

9- Sprinkle top of pie with a pinch of sugar (you can also add 1/4 of a stick of butter cut into small pieces of top for some extra taste:)

10- Place in oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until top of pie is browned.

Hope you like my Mum's Apple pie!! :)
