Groundhogs Day Punxsitawney, Pa February 2008

Groundhogs Day was so much fun, but also SUPER cold! If you go to Pa, (Laura I'm sure you are experiencing this!) like any part, bundle up baby cause its cold outside! We arrived in a happening Punxsatawney on February 1st Friday at about 3pm, lots of people were walking around the town. We started by looking for our friend Rick who works in a restaurant called the Anchor Inn, after we couldn't find the place, we stopped at another little diner and had great French onion soup. We decided we'd try to find him again, and after we asked a few locals, we found the restaurant (pretty empty) and had, yet another, French onion soup (I have to say, I don't think they're known for it!) Martin did have a huge chicken dinner for only about 8 dollars that looked really good at the Anchor Inn. We went the local theatre (which was frrrreezing) to see a showing of Groundhog Day afterwards, it was funny to see it in the town and be around other locals. Next, we went to meet John and Stef and John's parents home in Punxsi. It was so so nice of them to have us stay, they have a very nice cozy warm home there. The best times were spent in the living room cuddled and warm drinking hot cocoa and watching movies! The next morning we woke up at 4 and left to go to the Gobblers knob. There were about 10,000 or so people there in the middle of the woods. Just so you know, it doesn't look like it does in the movies, instead of a town square, its literally on a mountain in the woods. It was great fun, they had a bonfire, and my feet were about a second away from frostbite by the time we left on the schoolbuses to head back to town. That day John and Stef took us out to a very nice dinner for both our bdays (we are four days apart) at a restaurant called Mary's place (great food and nice atmosphere if you get to town someday). That day we went to the craft shows which had homemade jams, lots of handmade candles, and knittings, and finally we walked around the woodcarvers area to head home. The next morning, we woke up early and headed back to NY. It was such a fun time, here are a few pics that we took (sorry they are alittle dark!) Happy Groundhogs Day! Thank you guys for all the Birthday Wishes!!! :)
