Coney Island and "Scrappers" at John's Deli

hope you had a great weekend! Over the weekend we were able to head over to a place that I haven't been to in so long, Coney Island! I don't know why we haven't been there this year but it is one of my favorite places. I used to go all the time when I was in college and right afterwards. There's nothing like walking on a beach (even though its not so clean) but a beach regardless, and for free! I used to love going to NJ beaches but after awhile the beach badge checkers catch on that I'm not sleeping all day and I eventually have to pay the badge fee. So to come to a beach by the city that is free where I can still feel the sand between my toes and feel the sun on my face is refreshing! To be honest, I wouldn't swim in the water because of elevated bacteria levels (I never thought I'd say that) but I do love walking on the boardwalk. Their huge boardwalk has a Nathans, many pubs/bars, an amusement park, the NY Aquarium and even a circus. And if you can get there early you can get parking at the meters which amounts to about 1$ for 2 hours, or you can pay 10$ for parking all day in a private lot.
Last weekend a friend of a friend of ours was having a party for him and his friends new show "Scrappers" airing on Spike TV at an outdoor sandbar called John's Deli. It was actually a really cool relaxed space. There was sand on the ground and the bar/deli is fenced off in its own area from the boardwalk so that you can still see the ocean and have alittle privacy. We had drinks that amounted to 10$ total, not too bad! Its a very cool low key low priced place to grab lunch or a quick meal! Here are a few pictures from the party (I couldn't help but feel alittle like we were in an episode of the Jersey Shore:)) It was alot of fun!

  1. It makes me think of Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Totally free and lots of fun.
