can cost upwards of 5$ and some granola's can include things like partially hydrogenated oils, artifical flavorings and other preservatives.
So why not make your own!? Heres what you will need and how to make Granola:
3 cups oats - (large oats container 4$)
1 teaspoon salt (already have)
three tablespoons brown sugar (box is about 2$)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix together.
Here is the Wet mixture to mix separately and then add together-
1/3 cup honey (honey bear will cost you about 3$)
1/4 cup oil (I use whatever oil we have, olive oil is what we had)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (about 3$)
Mix all ingredients together and put on cookie pan. Put in oven at 300 for about 30 minutes, longer if you like your granola well done. Enjoy!
You can even reuse a plastic cracker container and store your granola inside like this one! Now you are being green and frugal!
Your total is only under 15$ which makes about 4-5 cups of granola! For me that is breakfast all week long. And the plus is that you've made it yourself so you know whats in it and oats are super healthy! Here is a bit about oats (from Wikipedia):
"Daily consumption of a bowl of oatmeal can lower blood cholesterol, due to its soluble fiber content.[3] After reports found that oats can help lower cholesterol, an "oat bran craze"[4][5] swept the U.S. in the late 1980s, peaking in 1989. The food fad was short-lived and faded by the early 1990s. The popularity of oatmeal and other oat products again increased after the January 1997 decision by the Food and Drug Administration that food with a lot of oat bran or rolled oats can carry a label claiming it may reduce the risk of heart disease, when combined with a low-fat diet. This is because of the beta-glucan in the oats. Rolled oats have also long been a staple of many athletes' diets, especially weight trainers; given oatmeal's high content of complex carbohydrates and water-soluble fiber which encourages slow digestion and stabilizes blood-glucose levels. Oatmeal porridge also contains more B vitamins and calories than other kinds of porridges."
Hope you have a great weekend!
