You will need:
1 lemon
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 tablespoons tahini (ground sesame seeds)
1 can chick peas (garbanzo beans)
2 cloves garlic
a dash of salt
(optional) - any spices you like, I used some parsley and some cayenne pepper!
First, take all ingredients and put into blender. You can either do this, or leave out olive oil. You'll see what we do with that afterwards.
Blend! Make sure the blender is on high speed, unless you want chunky hummus! After this, spoon out the hummus you made into a dish.
Finally, sprinkle your extras on top! I sprinkled my cayenne and parsley on top over the top. If you didn't use your olive oil in the blender, you can make a hole in the hummus and pour 2 tablespoons into the divet to add alittle extra flavor! Enjoy for up to a week (just to be safe) in the fridge!
Happy Frugal tip Friday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Good for you! I really like what I call "Southern hummus". Instead of chickpeas - try lima beans. I hate limas normally, but the hummus is some of the best I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteoooo thanks Dawn! That sounds super healthy and like it would taste good too! I'll have to try that one.
ReplyDeleteVery healthy. I have always wondered what hummus was. Then I saw an episode of How It's Made. Your version sounds way more appetizing than those big giant vats of the beans...hahaha.
ReplyDeleteMy friend has an awesome hummus recipe. I love the stuff, and having it fresh from your own kitchen? Even better!
