Frugal Tip Friday with a New Years Resolution!

I'm so excited that this weekend is New Years and soon it will be the year 2011!  I'm also really grateful that Martin doesn't have to work and that now we can hang out and do what we want for the eve! On this New Years as 2011 begins, I want to reflect on all the happiness and love of 2010. There were so many wonderful moments with friends and family that I will never forget. There were so many blogs that I've read and written and so many new and old bloggy friends in my life that I am so thankful for, my blog has helped me so much from getting me through the day, to making me feel connected to others going through the same feelings, to a friendly hello when I needed one! I hope that I am able to give back those smiles and helpful hints too!

My New Years Resolution for 2011 are:

1- cook and make all of or most of our meals from whole organic foods
2- continue to exercise and stay healthy
3- pay off my darn student loans! finally! (this might take the whole year though but it will get done darn it!) :)
4- gut and put in our new bathroom at the lakehouse with the new water inside the house
5- continue with schoolwork and complete (and pass) my first year comprehensive exams!
6- continue blogging!
7- and finally to Enjoy and love life!

These are my New Years Resolutions!!! Its a great feeling to be able to finally have "pay off my student loans" on my list!! I think I might break down and cry when they are paid off!

What are your New Years Resolutions?

Frugal Tip Friday - Make your own Salad Dressing!

Since this is New Years weekend, this Frugal Tip Friday is geared towards one of my (and maybe yours) resolutions! My #1 and #2 is to make all of our own foods from organic whole foods and 2 is to be healthy. That means - eating more salads!! I love salads and for some reason, maybe because I've been running around with school, I've been eating less of them. So this year, I'll be eating plenty of salads with fruits and veggies and lettuce!! A great way to save and to be healthy with your salad is to make your own dressing! My favorite dressings are balsamic vinegar with olive oil and olive oil with fresh squeezed lemon! To make your own salad dressing, just mix 1 cup of olive oil with 1/4 cup of balsamic vinegar and you have balsamic vinegarette! Or if you like lemon, you just mix 1 cup of olive oil with 1 squeezed lemon. Pour into salad and toss. Yum!!!

Wishing you a wonderful New Year 2011!
