Frugal Tip Friday - guest blogger makes halloween spiders & we have a visit from a city student with her own tip for you!

Happy Frugal Tip Friday! Today I am so excited to have my wonderful friend and awesome blogger Shannon from Milk and Cuddles stopping by to give us a fabulous frugal tip for this Halloween!  Just read below, and you will learn how to make your own gel spiders for decoration and fun for super inexpensive! Enjoy the blog below from Shannon!

Halloween Craft: Make your own Gel Spiders!

It’s the Fall! Kids are back to school, and although the Texas heat isn’t showing it- Halloween is right around the corner! Want a fun Halloween craft to get you in the mood? How about making your own self stick- gel spiders?

These spiders are super easy to make and can be stuck to mirrors or windows- even a glass vase to add a little spook to your decor!

Below you will find the directions- it’s SO easy! As well as a video showing how easy it is to pipe the spiders out!

Best of all- a fleet of spiders will cost you less than $2.00! It’s crafty and cheap!

Halloween Craft Idea: Make your own gel spiders!

You Need:

■A bottle of dimensional paint (in the 90’s we called it “Puffy Paint” remember?)

■A non stick surface (like a non stick plastic cookie sheet)

■A vase or mirror to decorate.

Step: 1
Draw directly from the dimensional paint bottle onto a non stick surface to create spiders.

Step: 2
To create medium spiders, squeeze about a quarter size puddle of black onto pad, keeping the tip of the bottle on the paint puddle as you squeeze. Make the puddle as large as desired. Add legs attached to puddle. Set aside to DRY thoroughly; about two days. More if it’s a very large arachnid:)

Step: 3
Gently peel spiders from nonstick pad and place on glass vase or mirror. They will pull off so you can re-position them just the way you want!

Thanks Shan for that awesome post! Please check out her blog Milk and Cuddles, you won't regret it! And now we have a new addition to Frugal Tip Friday. Every Friday in addition to a frugal tip, we'll have a fellow big city living gal (from any city) visiting to tell us one way how he/she saves and spends less. Today we have Stephanie Lewitinn stopping by. She was born in NYC, moved away for 10 years and has just moved back for college! She is in college, works a part time job and has an internship in the film/television industry. Here is a note from Stephanie:

When shopping for clothes or food or toiletries I seek out the best deal possible. If I see a pair of boots that I HAVE to have, and there's a holiday coming up, I wait until the store has a sale - stores like Macy's, Kohls, Steve Madden all have great deals around the time of any holiday, where you can save nearly half of the original price. So wait! Don't buy on impulse!

Thanks Stephanie!
