Frugal tip Friday - for your smelly toilet!

I love it when our bathroom smells nice and clean and like some other scent than dirty toilet! I've used just white vinegar and baking soda to clean our tub and toilet. While it worked great, the smells for some reason didn't go away. I would scrub the toilet with baking soda and then wipe afterwards with white vinegar. I reviewed Seventh Generation's toilet cleaning products and they were wonderful! They cleaned like the baking soda and white vinegar but they made our bathroom smell so nice! I looked into their ingredients and they do use a scent that has a relation to thyme, so I started thinking. What other herbs might scent a bottle of white vinegar for me to clean with? And I started to look into sage oil. Did you know sage oil not only smells amazing, but it is also anti fungal, anti microbial, anti oxidant, anti septic, anti inflammatory and anti bacterial! So I used an old spray bottle I had:

And I picked up a bottle of sage essential. I dropped 3 droplets in about 2 cups of white vinegar into the spray bottle.
I used this to spray and clean the toilet. It worked great! Not only did it clean but it made the whole bathroom smell amazing! After this I couldn't help but try the spray on some mold spots around the caulk in the tub, and I was surprised to see the mold spots literally turn lighter after a couple of minutes! It was pretty cool. I'll spray them once again tonight and they should be gone after that. I'm definetly keeping this bottle in the bathroom!

I saved about 5$ making my own spray cleaner instead of buying one. (Really its 8$ but when you calculate the cost of the sage oil and the white vinegar, it goes down to 5$)

Try it and let me know how it works!

Happy Frugal Tip Friday!
