Frugal Tip Friday - For Your Hair

Last weekend I got a few highlights to cover the monstrous amounts of white hairs that just keeping coming for my sister's wedding in 2 weeks. I'm so excited for her!! Its going to be beautiful and she is going to be beautiful and I just can't wait. She's been with the same guy now for almost 8 years and they are finally tying the knot! With getting highlights comes lots of strays and flyies from dry most likely broken hairs from the highlighting dye they use. One day when I'm all white/gray I'm just going to try henna and see how that works out, but until then I'm stuck with dry hair, or so I thought! I don't have the extra cash to spend 55$ on something like this:
but I was in need of some deep moisturizing for my poor hair.  So last night while I sat on the floor and couldn't peel my eyes away from the 2 hour special of Greys Anatomy (with the shooter in the hospital, it was a pretty amazing show!) I barely managed to take myself away for a minute and tried a much cheaper but just as good remedy for dry hair - the natural conditioner hair mask.   It was pretty easy to make and I just needed stuff that I already had around the house.

1 avocado - 2$
2 eggs - roughly 2$

1/2 cup evoo - around 2$

The total for my hair mask was only 6$. I left it on for 20 minutes and rinsed it out with shampoo and conditioner afterwards. Today my hair feels like I never got those highlights and is smooth and silky and thick! I love it and totally recommend this treatment for dry brittle hair, especially for after color/highlights. Another great thing besides that this  hair mask is cheaper, it also doesn't contain all those pesky chemicals like in the 55$ hair mask above. I did alittle research and when you click on the hair mask, it says to call the company for a full list of ingredients and I did! here it is for you -

"Aqua, ceteary alcohol, cetyl esters, ppg-3 benzyl ether myristate, cyclopentasiloxane, butylene glycol, octyldodecyl ricinoleate, propylene glycol isoceteth-3 acetate, behentrimonium chloride, cetyl alcohol, divinyldimethicone, cetrimonium chloride, polysilicone-15, foeniculum vulgare seed extreact, ganoderma lucidum tyrosinase, glycine max symbiosome lysate, glycine soja seed peroxidase, saccharomyces copper, lysate, zinc ferment, amino acyl tRNA synthetase, calendula officinalis flower extract, cassia italica leaf extract, rhodiola rosea root extract, chamomilla recutita flower extract, tuber magnatum pico, algae extract, boswellia carterii extract, bromelain, arnica montana flower extract, angelica archangelica root extract, coriandrum sativum fruit/leaf extract corn oligosaccharides, daucus carota sativa root extract hydrolyzed soy protein lactoferrin, adenosine triphosphate, lentinus edodes tyrosinase, malva sylvestris flower/leaf/stem extract, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, isosterate, wasabia japonica root extract, pareth, trideceth methylparaben, propylparaben, diazolidinyl urea, disodium EDTA, fragrance, linalool, red 40, yellow 6, blue 1."
Thats alot of chemicals! I'm much more satisfied with using my avocado, evoo, egg:) When my scalp absorbs it, at least I know I won't be ingesting octyldodecyl ricinoleate!
Happy Friday ladies, hope you have a great weekend!!
