Devastation in Brooklyn

This past weekend Martin and I had planned to take Lealu on walks, go the Coney Island (it was getting really springy last weekend), maybe go for a bike ride. Boy did that ever get rained out!! and winded out! and blown out! Saturday the wind was blowing so hard that the whole house was shaking. Then the electricity went out...so Martin, Lealu and I went downstairs and hung out with the inlaws and did what any normal 21st century Americans would do in the face of devastation and nearing death...we drank wine!! lol:) and lots of it, which, with a bunch of blankets, helped to warm me up and improve spirits anyway! The next day, Sunday things were much more calmed down. The wind had turned into a light blow and the rain had become a mist. Martin and I got some coffees (well I got a chai) and we walked to the park nearby. I've never in my whole life seen anything like this. The trees were actually uprooted out of the ground from the wind! How in the world could something like that happen? I don't get it, because in my mind the trees are part of the earth and would know (or have the knowledge stored within its many rings and generations of living) to buckle down its roots so deeply to protect itself from any kind of wind that could come. Its like, if the earth is the macrochosm to our bodys as the microchosm, the wind had become so intense as to actually knock down, not the whole body, but definetly parts of itself. Like a fever (wind/heat condition in Chinese Medicine) or a cold (wind/cold) made a person so dizzy and in such a whirlwind (kinda like vertigo) that they would have to sit down, but not just sit down, lay down and instead of trees/bones falling over, the wind would just knock vessels and nerves around causing trembling and some nerve damage. lol I should put this on my acupuncture blog I think!  Here are some of the pictures we took- crazy right!?

  6. Wow I heard about the bad storms out there. Isn't it crazy to see such large trees completely uprooted? Scary!
